A rumor has been making the rounds for some time now among the Destiny fanbase that the sequel to this popular Bungie title is not going to support any weapons and gear from the original title. Unfortunately for those fans, Bungie has now confirmed that true. All armor, weapons, items, and emotes that players have gathered in the original Destiny title will be left behind because they will be of no use in Destiny 2. The only thing that players will be able to move over will be their original character designs. That’s all.

Bungie does point out that even though it will allow players to move their original character designs to the sequel, those characters will start out fresh in a completely different landscape and will have to collect a different type of loot. It appears that the classes will remain the same but Bungie might be changing the subclasses.

The developer is also thinking about creating new rewards for people who have spent considerable time playing the original game. Perhaps it might be a new type of collectible that will feature in the sequel.

Bungie is now planning its final live event for the original title called Age of Triumph which will start later this month. It’s going to share more details about Age of Triumph in three live streams, the first stream is going to take place on Wednesday, March 8th.

Bungie says that the decision to keep weapons and gear back in the original title will allow it to “introduce the major advancements and improvements that all of us expect from a sequel, ensuring it will be the best game we can create, unencumbered by the past.”

The Destiny 2 release is expected to take place later this year.
