You might have heard that Facebook is currently testing out a new design for its comments section where they will try to make comments feel more like conversation threads. However it turns out that’s not all Facebook is doing because it seems that the company is also testing out allowing users to post GIFs inside of comments.

This will be similar to how users post GIFs in Messenger where there will be a button for GIFs which will then source from the likes of Giphy or Tenor for images. It seems that this feature is currently in testing and isn’t that widely available yet, so if you don’t see it not to worry as you’re probably one of the many who don’t have access to the feature.

Facebook has since confirmed to TechCrunch that they are indeed testing out the feature. According to Facebook, “Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we’re about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments and we’ll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.”

No word on when the feature will be going live, but as Facebook has pointed out they are merely testing it. This means that after a period of testing, Facebook could decide that maybe they don’t like this feature so much and choose to not implement it, or maybe they will, but either way since we aren’t privy to Facebook’s plans and timelines, we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
