Samsung made the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ official yesterday and confirmed their specifications. We now know that both handsets will feature 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage in all markets across the globe. However, there has been talk of a 6GB RAM variant meant for just one market. According to a new report, the Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage will soon be released in China.

We’ve heard this report many times over the past few months. There are many Chinese manufacturers who are offering 6GB RAM and 128GB storage so while just increasing these two specs is not really going to make a difference in performance, Samsung’s reasons to do this in China may just be to play the numbers game.

It would certainly not want its new flagship smartphone to fall short in specifications, at least on paper, and if that’s what the Chinese consumers want then that’s precisely what it’s going to give to them.

The latest report out of China claims that it’s only going to be the Galaxy S8+ that gets 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in China. There’s no word on pricing just yet but it’s believed to cost ¥6000 ($870).

Samsung hasn’t said anything about this just yet so we’ll have to wait for more information from the company. If it does go ahead with this, it’s highly unlikely that this configuration will be offered anywhere else.
