So far reviews of the Nintendo Switch have been largely positive. Sure there are some areas that Nintendo could work in terms of hardware and software, and hopefully they’ll be addressed in future refreshes or updates, but in the meantime most people seem to be pretty pleased with the console.

In fact in a statement released to Game Rant, GameStop’s Senior Director of Merchandising, Eric Bright, revealed that the launch of the Switch is one of the strongest console launches that the retailer has seen in the past few years. Bright also reassured gamers that they will be getting more units in stock so not to worry if they missed out on the first batch.

According to Bright, “Stores across the country last night were packed with customers who couldn’t wait to get their hands on the brand new Nintendo Switch.  We even had customers lining up as early as yesterday morning so that they could be one of the lucky ones to score one of the additional units for our walk-in customers. This is one of the strongest and most successful gaming console launches for GameStop in the last several years.”

This is obviously good news for Nintendo who are looking for a comeback following the flop that was the Wii U, a console whose sales that GameStop had previously called “disappointing”. Of course it might be too early to celebrate but like we said, things are definitely looking up for Nintendo.
