Google recently added a couple of new features to its Gboard for iOS app and it’s now bringing some new features to the Android version of its keyboard as well. The company today announced that the Gboard for Android new features now include GIF and emoji suggestions. This feature has actually been available on the iOS counterpart since it was released a long time back so Android users will finally be happy that Google is bringing these features to the app for its own platform at last.

GIF and emoji search are obviously not the only new features that are included in this update. Users will also find that voice typing has been improved, there are more keyboard themes to choose from as well as access to Google Translate.

It’s the translation feature that will come in most handy. If you’re trying to have a text-based conversation with someone who speaks another language, just tap on the Translate icon within the quick menu feature to jumpstart Google Translate in the keyboard. It’s going to instantly translate words and phrases as you type along making it very easy to hold forth in that conversation.

Now, for the first time in right-to-left languages like Arabic, Farsi, and Hebrew, users can tap on the arrow or G in the suggestion strip and get access to new search features, including emoji, GIF, and the web.

The updated Gboard for Android app is now available for download via the Google Play Store.
