Earlier this year HTC debuted to two new phones in the form of the HTC U Ultra and U Play handsets. We have to admit that while the specs on either phone are decent for high-end and mid-rangers, they weren’t exactly groundbreaking in terms of features and design, but that could change come this April.

In a report by Evan Blass on VentureBeat, he has revealed that HTC has a new phone in the works that will be part of the HTC U lineup. The handset has been given the codename “Ocean” which you might have heard of before and one of its key features is the fact that it will come with a touch-sensitive frame.

Basically the frame of the phone is said to come with sensors embedded into them and users will be able to control the phone and perform actions by touching its sides, like swiping or squeezing. At the moment it is unclear as to what exactly can be performed with this touch-sensitive frame, but it sounds like a rather novel concept.

Other rumored features include the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, a 12MP rear-facing camera, a 16MP front-facing camera, and possibly a 5.5-inch WQHD display. We’re not sure when in April it will be announced, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled. Until then take it with a grain of salt.
