Nintendo’s much-awaited next-generation gaming console is out now and reports suggest that it’s off to a good start. It’s shaping up to the fastest selling console for the company. Nintendo did confirm recently that it would not be possible for Switch owners to transfer game saves from the internal storage to a microSD card. That’s obviously a downside but the company’s president has hinted at the possibility of cloud saves.

The inability to transfer game saves from the internal storage to a microSD card poses a significant problem for gamers who are serious about backing up their game progress. Many can’t imagine losing their progress so they prefer backing it up just in case.

However, Nintendo has confirmed that game saves can not be saved to copied to a microSD card from the Switch. If the company is not going to open up this feature the only solution would be to allow console owners to save the game files in the cloud using Nintendo’s online network.

The company hasn’t confirmed anything about this functionality just yet but Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has hinted at this possibility in a recent Facebook interview when talking about cloud game saves he mentioned that “Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Stay tuned.”

Nintendo Switch owners will certainly be interested in finding out more about this and we’ll be sure to cover if and when something comes up
