A little over a week ago, Blizzard announced that the latest hero to Overwatch, “Orisa”, is live in the game. However as Blizzard had noted at that time, Orisa would not be available for competitive play just yet and would be available for pretty much all other game modes. Blizzard’s intention was to let gamers learn the character before introducing her to competitive play.

The good news is that if you have been hankering at a chance to play as Orisa in competitive play, you’ll be pleased to learn that the hero is now available for that mode. This is according to a tweet by the official Overwatch Twitter account which announced the character’s availability in Competitive Play.

For those unfamiliar with Overwatch and its different game modes, as its name suggests, Competitive Play is one of Overwatch’s modes that has been designed to offer up a more competitive/serious experience to the game where players can gain ranks on a seasonal basis, and it also rewards players with Competitive Points which can be used towards unlocking certain cosmetic items.

Given the competitive nature of the mode, we guess Blizzard wanted to give players some time to get used to Orisa’s skills and abilities, lest some players cry foul that they didn’t have enough time to master the character’s skills.
