Sony has confirmed that it’s going to release the next major update for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro tomorrow. The PS4 system software version 4.50 is going to be out in less than 24 hours. It brings several new features for the console including but not limited to Boost Mode for the PlayStation 4 Pro as well as voice chat for Remote Play.

The company already talked about some of the new features that are included in this update last month, such as custom wallpapers and support for external hard drives. The latter is something that many PS4 owners have long been waiting for so they will be happy that PS4 external hard drive support is finally arriving.

Sony also promises improved 2D images on PlayStation VR after this update. The resolution of Cinematic Mode on PlayStation VR will improve as well. If the PS VR screen size is set to Small or Medium, the frame rate of content viewed in Cinematic Mode will go up from 90Hz to 120Hz post update.

The PlayStation 4 Boost Mode feature has been designed to provide better performance for select legacy titles that have not been updated to take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s faster CPU and GPU. Boost Mode will provide a noticeable frame rate boost to some games with variable frame rates, says Sony, adding that it also provides frame rate stability for games that are programmed to run at 30 Hz or 60 Hz.

Sony is going to start rolling out system software version 4.50 for PlayStation 4 across the globe starting tomorrow.
