If you love video games that are themed around gangs, there’s a good chance you might be familiar with Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs franchise. If you thought that the game looked like an ideal candidate for a movie adaptation, you’ll be pleased to learn that according to a report from Deadline, that’s exactly what will be happening.

According to the report, it looks like a Sleeping Dogs movie has been confirmed, and it has also been confirmed that action movie star Donnie Yen will be starring in it. For those unfamiliar with Yen’s work, he was previously in Rouge One: A Star Wars Story and more recently, xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

Yen had also previously starred in a bunch of Hollywood movies as well as Hong Kong martial arts movies, but unless you follow the Hong Kong cinema scene closely, there’s a good chance that Yen might be more familiar to you in his appearance in Rouge One. However given the game’s settings and Yen’s history and prowess in martial arts, it sounds like he will be a good fit.

We’re not sure what the actual movie will be about, but Square Enix’s description of the game reads, “A vibrant, neon city teaming with life, Hong Kong’s exotic locations and busy streets and markets hide one of the most powerful and dangerous criminal organizations in the world: the notorious Triads.”
