With consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, we’ve seen how there are sticker companies out there who sell decals for the consoles that allows gamers to change the way their console looks. Whether it be adding a camo look, a new color, or images of their favorite games, there are options out there.

However if you are considering skinning your Nintendo Switch, you might want to think twice. Sticker company dbrand which is pretty popular has recently posted on Reddit (via Engadget) where they have actually warned Switch gamers from skinning their consoles, at least for now because apparently due to the coating Nintendo uses, these stickers won’t hold up so well or for the long haul.

According to dbrand, they found that after as short as 24 hours, the outer skin had begun to peel off, which means that if you were to apply a skin, don’t expect it to last more than a couple of days before it starts to peel off, which would be a waste of money as these skins don’t come cheap.

In fact dbrand is claiming that “both the JoyCons and the Console are not compatible with vinyl wraps or any adhesive-backed skin of any kind”, so much so that they’re refunding customers who might have already purchased their skins from them. We’re not sure if there will be a solution in the future, but for now maybe you should hold off on customizing your console.
