If you were hoping to play South Park: The Fractured But Whole on the Nintendo Switch, you might be disappointed to learn that won’t be happening. This was confirmed by a representative for the South Park studio via Comedy Central which was then confirmed to IGN when they asked about the game’s release on Nintendo’s latest gaming platform.

The statement reads, “South Park: The Fractured But Whole won’t be coming to [the Nintendo] Switch.” Now you might be wondering what’s the big deal? In case you haven’t been following the news, a tweet by the official South Park account from a couple of days ago suggested that maybe, just maybe the game could be coming onto the Switch. The tweet (somewhat crudely) reads, “Nin-ten-do. I’m coming. I’m coming, Nin-ten-do #blizzard2017”.

This is why it is surprising that the game will not be arriving for the console, although it has since been suspected that the tweet could be making reference to a 2006 storyline in South Park where Cartman freezes himself so that he doesn’t have to “wait” for the release of the Nintendo Wii U.

Ubisoft who is publishing and developing the sequel declined to comment, which we can only imagine probably doesn’t bode well for fans who are hoping that this isn’t true. Ubisoft wouldn’t be the first publisher/developer to skip the Switch as previously BioWare had also confirmed that there are no plans to bring Mass Effect: Andromeda to the Switch. Will this change in the future? We suppose it could, but for now maybe you shouldn’t hold your breath.
