Twitter has been having problems with trolls and cyberbullies for the longest time ever, kind of like what you might expect from a social media platform. However it was only in recent times that the company has announced that they will be stepping up their efforts and being more proactive about dealing with them.

In fact according to a report from Kirkville, it seems that Twitter has rolled out a bunch of new blocking tools that users can take advantage of if they’d prefer not to be harassed. As you can see in the screenshot to the right, users now have the option of muting notifications from users that they do not follow.

They also can mute notifications from users who do not have a profile photo and are using the default “egg” image. There are also options to mute users who haven’t confirmed their email addresses or their number number. Of course this doesn’t mean that verified users can’t troll or harass users, but we guess for those users who create new accounts to troll, it might be a little more difficult for them to pull it off.

This probably won’t be a complete fix but at least Twitter is giving users more options in which they can fight back and silence those who harass them online.
