Earlier this year, HTC announced two new phones in the form of the HTC U Ultra and U Play. If the former handset is something that you’ve been eyeing, then you might be pleased to learn that the handset is now available for purchase in the US as an unlocked handset, meaning that you won’t be tied to any particular carrier and it should be usable on compatible carriers.

Unfortunately what this also means that you can expect to pay full price for the phone. Instead of paying through installment plans should you have bought it through a carrier, the unlocked version will set you back $750, which we guess is a lot of money but it is the price that one can expect from most flagship phones these days.

In case you’re learning about the HTC U Ultra for the first time, the handset will feature a 5.7-inch QHD display with Gorilla Glass 5 if you choose the 64GB version. There is a 128GB version that sports a sapphire display. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 can be found with 4GB of RAM accompanying it.

There will also be a 12MP HTC UltraPixel 2 camera with a BSI sensor on the back, a 16MP front-facing UltraPixel camera, and HTC USonic and BoomSound audio technology. If you’d like to get your hands on it, then head on over to HTC’s website for the details.
