It was confirmed recently that the next Call of Duty game is going to be based on the events of the second World War. It has only been a few days since Activision and Sledgehammer Games released an official trailer for Call of Duty: WWII. As fans of the franchise eagerly await more information about the upcoming title, Michael Condrey of Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that there will be playable female soldiers in the game’s multiplayer mode.

Playable female soldiers made their first appearance in the franchise back in 2013 when a multiplayer update for Call of Duty Ghosts added them to the game. Infinity Ward was the studio behind that game and it finally added playable female characters to the game long after competing shooters like Gears of War and Halo added them.

Nevertheless, it was a step in the right direction, one that’s going to pay dividends with Call of Duty: WWII as well. Condrey confirmed in response to a tweet on Twitter that Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer mode is going to have playable female characters.

More information about this title is going to be released at E3 2017 this June. That’s also when the multiplayer will be shown off so fans will certainly want to mark their calendars for June 2017.
