If you’ve ever wondered what Final Fantasy would look like as a live-action TV series, you won’t have to wonder much more because it has been announced that the Final Fantasy XIV: Daddy of Light TV series will be coming to Japan. We know it sounds almost like an April Fool’s joke, but the series was actually announced earlier this year.

It will be available to Japanese Netflix subscribers come 20th of April, but if you don’t subscribe to Netflix it will also be available on Japanese TV channels MBS and TBS on the 16th of April. For those wondering about the TV series, it won’t actually be set in the world of Final Fantasy, but rather it is a show about a father and son who bond over the game.

There will be a mix of gameplay and human drama within the show itself, and with various characters from the game appearing throughout the show. We’re not sure how well-received the series will be, or if it might end up a bit comedic, but for fans of the franchise we guess it could be worth checking out. The worldwide premiere is expected this fall, so in the meantime we guess those in Japan will be able to check it out first.
