Photo albums have gotten a lot smarter these days compared to back then. Nowadays companies have made it so that photos taken in a particular month can be automatically grouped together, or by location, or by people, and in some cases it can even compile a slideshow of photos taken on that day itself.

Google Photos is an example of such a service, but unfortunately it seems to have run into a bit of a mishap. It seems that there are quite a few users who are complaining that their “People” folder in Google Photos has gone missing. A post by user Kayla Tuite reads, “I was just looking through them last night and today they are gone. I tried taking a picture of my daughter and it created a new “people” folder for her. I was really hoping it would identify her in all of her old pictures, so I could try to rebuild my People folders. I don’t know what went wrong or if there is anything I can do from here.”

The good news is that Google is aware of the issue, according to a post by Ben who is one of Google’s community managers. He writes, “Thanks for posting.  We’re aware of this and our team is looking into it. I’ll post to this thread when we have an update to provide or if it’s been fixed.”

It is unclear as to when this issue will be fixed but if you’re affected by this, Sonya who is Google’s community specialist has offered up a possible solution. We’re not sure if it will work for everyone but it could be worth trying, if not we guess you’ll just have to wait for Google to get around to fixing it.
