Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone is available on a variety of platforms, such as PCs as well as mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. So this does beg the question of whether or not it could find its way onto the Nintendo Switch, which is admittedly almost like a tablet when undocked.

In an interview with Express Online, the publication spoke to senior game designers Mike Donais and Matt Place and asked them about the possibility of the game arriving onto the Switch. According to Donais, “I personally haven’t talked about it but I’m more focused on card design. Hearthstone is available on iPads and phones, so it’s a good discussion worth having.”

Note that this shouldn’t be taken as a confirmation, but it sounds like Blizzard is at the very least open to the idea of the game arriving on the console. However we suppose there are factors to take into consideration, such as whether or not Hearthstone will be able to connect to Blizzard’s online gaming services, or if it will have to rely on Nintendo’s online platform, in which it means that there could potentially be less players to play with.

This is a similar situation with Diablo 3 and Overwatch on consoles where the lack of cross-platform support is one of their limiting factors. Speaking of Overwatch, Blizzard had also previously stated that bringing Overwatch onto the Switch was something that they are keeping an open mind about, but there are challenges which could ultimately decide if it is feasible or not. In the meantime any Hearthstone players out there like to see the game arrive for the Switch?
