The HTC U Ultra was announced earlier this year but despite its somewhat high-end specs, the handset wasn’t exactly what you would consider to be compelling. Sure it had the chops, but its features weren’t particularly exciting especially in the face of other flagships like the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8.

However back in March we heard that HTC was readying a new handset codenamed “Ocean” that would simply be known as the HTC U, and now thanks to a recent tweet by Evan Blass, alleged photos of the upcoming phone have leaked online, although unfortunately the leaks don’t really tell us much.

What they do tell us is that HTC will be maintaining a similar design language as before, which as you can see basically points at a very glossy finish, not that it’s a bad thing. As for features, one of the key features we’ve heard is how the phone will sport a touch-sensitive frame.

The feature would basically allow users to swipe along the frame to control the phone, squeeze it, or perform other gestures that might not necessarily require users to interact with the display. We’re not 100% sure how it works, but it does sound intriguing. No word on when the phone will be launched, but leaked photos/renders does seem to hint that we could be due for an announcement in the near future.
