Instagram has been copying some of Snapchat’s core features and the strategy appears to be paying off. The impact was immediate. Snapchat’s growth slowed down 82 percent after Instagram Stories was launched, which as the name suggests, is a clone of Snapchat Stories. Facebook-owned Instagram today revealed that its stories feature has more than 200 million daily users which is more than what Snapchat as if you compare the figure with the one Snapchat last provided.

Snapchat revealed these numbers a couple of months back in filings related to its IPO. In the last quarter of 2014, it averaged a daily user count of 158 million, which only accounted for a 3.2 percent growth rate.

On the other hand, Instagram’s stories feature alone now has more daily active users than all of Snapchat. The latest figure stands at 200 million people across the globe, which is quite an achievement.

Instagram has also launched new sticker tools which will enable users to turn their selfies into stickers so that they can quickly share their reaction or trade faces with someone or something in their story. If this sounds familiar, it’s basically a clone of Snapchat’s 3D stickers that the service launched about a year back.

Geostickers in four new cities have been added as well. Those who live in or are traveling to London, Madrid, Tokyo or Chicago will now start seeing geostickers for those cities over the coming days. All of them have been designed by local community members.
