Back in 2015, it was announced that Capcom’s Mega Man video game franchise would be getting an animated series of its own. Given that there have been similar adaptations for other video games in the past, it didn’t really come as a surprise. Last we heard, the show was on track for a 2017 release, but that does not appear to be the case anymore.

In a report from Dentsu Entertainment (via Nintendo Everything), it seems that the animated series has been delayed and instead of being released in 2017, it will now be seeing a release in 2018 instead. The report also confirms that the series will be aired on Cartoon Network whereas previously it was suggested that Disney XD would be the home for the series.

The report did not specify what was the reason behind the delay, but either way we guess fans of the franchise will just have to wait. In the meantime Capcom has released Mega Man 1 through 6 on mobile devices. So far reviews haven’t really been kind but we guess if you did enjoy the franchise and wouldn’t mind playing it on your phone, it could be worth taking a look at anyway. So, who else is anticipating the Mega Man animated series for 2018?
