Motorola has been slowly rolling out the Nougat update for its phones from last year, such as the Amazon version of the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus. So what about the Moto G4 Play? The good news is that it looks like it has been confirmed that the Moto G4 Play will be getting its Nougat update come this June.

This is according to a report from Android Authority in which they received a confirmation from a Lenovo spokesperson who said that the update will be pushed out in June. The statement reads, “Consumers will start to see Android Nougat on Moto G4 Play in June.” Note that this roll out is said to be globally, so it won’t just be limited to devices in the US.

We’re not sure why only in June and not earlier, especially when the other Moto G4 handsets have received their updates, and when you consider the fact that apart from some hardware differences, the Moto G4 handsets aren’t that different from each other, but we suppose better late than never.

There was no specific date mentioned in the statement so we can only assume a general release for the month of June and we’ll just have to keep an eye out for it.
