Tekken 7, or at least the non-arcade version of the game, will be released in June where it will find its way onto the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. However with the Nintendo Switch having been officially announced, we’re sure many are wondering if the game could eventually find its way onto the console as well.

If you were hoping for a Tekken 7 port for the Switch, you might be disappointed to learn that will not be happening just yet, or ever. Speaking to GameSpot in an interview, Tekken’s producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that they haven’t even had time to get to study the hardware of the console simply because they haven’t been able to get their hands on it.

According to Harada, “Officially, we can’t really comment on that because our company has strict policy about which titles we talk about for Switch, But personally, we’ve been so busy with trying to master up Tekken for the current platforms that we haven’t really had enough time to study the hardware. We couldn’t even buy it–it was sold out every time we went to look for it.”

It is odd that they weren’t given access to a developer kit to begin with, but in any case it sounds like if you are hoping for Tekken 7, don’t hold your breath. Harada’s comment sounds like they’re not completely closing the door on that possibility, but you should definitely temper your expectations for now.
