Last year Tesla took the wraps off their latest green efforts in the form of solar roof tiles. However this was aimed more towards customers who are either planning to do a major remodeling of their home or who are building one from scratch, which means that existing homeowners have to turn to other solar solutions.

However there is good news as it seems that Tesla has not neglected existing homeowners. Under the “Energy” section on its website, Tesla has quietly unveiled a new solar panel that homeowners can attach to their roofs. These solar panels are made by Panasonic exclusively for Tesla as part of the company’s deal with Tesla at the Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo.

This means that these solar panels won’t be made available to other companies or individuals. As you can see, these solar panels are pretty sleek compared to more traditional designs, so if you’re concerned about how your home looks out on the outside as well as the inside, this could be an option you could consider.

The panels will have “integrated front skirts and no visible mounting hardware,” which means that while it is obvious that there will be solar panels on your roof, they won’t be an eyesore. According to Tesla who spoke to Electrek, these panels will be going into production at the Gigafactory 2 this summer and will be used for residential projects moving forwards.
