The X-Files is considered by many to be one of the classic TV shows in history, which is why many were very excited when the show made a mini return last year for what was officially known as Season 10 in a six episode run. It was short and sweet but it definitely left fans wanting more.

The good news is that Fox has decided to oblige because the network has since announced and confirmed that the TV series will be returning for Season 11. The best part is that unlike Season 10 which some felt was a bit short, Season 11 will run for 10-episodes. Granted it isn’t a “full” season compared to the previous seasons, but hey, we’ll take what we can get.

According to David Madden, president of Fox, “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”

No specific dates on when the latest season will air, but production is expected to begin in the summer and will begin airing sometime during the 2017-2018 season. Both the show’s leads Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have since taken to Twitter to confirm the news.
