Last year Ubisoft announced that they would not be launching an Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, suggesting a change in pace in the way Assassin’s Creed titles are being launched. It was also suggested that we might not be able to expect a yearly release of Assassin’s Creed games in the future.

However the good news for fans of the franchise is that it looks like 2017 could bring us a new title. In an image posted onto Reddit by user “shoutouttoashraf”, an image of the alleged 2017 title has made its way online. The image in question shows a player character on a boat wielding a bow and arrow with a shield on their back.

According to Eurogamer who has confirmed with three separate sources, it seems that the image in question is legit and that the upcoming game will be called Assassin’s Creed: Origins. It is rumored to serve as a prequel to the entire series and will be released later this year for the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.

Interestingly enough there is no mention of the Nintendo Switch as there were rumors late last year that the next Assassin’s Creed title could find its way onto the console. In any case we guess we’ll just have to wait and find out, but with E3 2017 taking place later next month, hopefully we’ll have the official details then.
