Walmart has been working hard to challenge Amazon’s hold in the online shopping arena and now Amazon is firing back with a major move of its own. Amazon, one of the largest online retailers in the world, has decided to lower its free shipping minimum requirement to $25. It has made this decision after Walmart added support for free two-day shipping on all orders under $35 without requiring any membership.

Amazon has a free shipping minimum in place for those who don’t subscribe to its Prime membership program. They have to place orders that total a certain amount of money in order to get free shipping or else they have to pay for shipping themselves.

Prime members don’t have to worry about buying enough stuff to hit the minimum requirement because Amazon already provides them with free two-day shipping on more than 50 million items aside from many other perks that even include video and music streaming services.

Before Walmart made its announcement in January this year, Amazon’s free shipping minimum was relatively high at $49. It was priced that way to entice more people to pay for the Prime membership program.

Amazon first cut its minimum requirement to $35 in February and it has now decided to cut it down even further to $25, this will enable plenty of customers to get what they want without having to buy additional stuff or having to bear the burden of paying to ship themselves.
