Just like how picture-in-picture mode on TVs lets users watch more than one channel at once, the same can be said for mobile devices, where the ability to run apps simultaneously side-by-side can be a rather nifty feature. Now the good news for Duo users is that Android O is something they can look forward to.

In a recent APK teardown on the latest version of the app, the folks at Android Police have discovered that Duo for Android O will actually support picture-in-picture. As you can see in the screenshots, this allows users to use the app while at the same time doing other things on their mobile device, like replying emails, messages, and so on.

Note that since Android O isn’t released yet, this is clearly only for those who are running the developer preview of Android O. We’re not sure when Android O will be released but it should be later in the year, possibly alongside the release of Google’s new Pixel handsets. However we expect that Google will also share additional details about the OS at Google I/O 2017 which will be taking place later this month, so be sure to check back with us then if you’d like the details.

Also note that since Android O has yet to be released, we’re not sure if this particular feature will stay the same until then. Google might make some changes and it won’t look like how it does in the screenshots, but it should be worth checking out anyway.
