If fast-paced games aren’t really your style, then there are always alternatives, such as stealth-based titles in which players can take their time and strategize their next move. If you were playing video games in the late 90s, then there’s a good chance that the “Thief” game might ring a bell.

Now the last time we saw a Thief game released was back in 2014 which means that it has been 3 years since, and it would also mean that it would be ripe to release a new title. Unfortunately if you have been hearing such rumors, you will be disappointed to learn that it is not true, as confirmed by Eidos Montreal’s head of studio David Anfossi.

In a tweet by Anfossi, he pretty much shot down the rumors by saying, “Apparently we’re developing Thief 5 game! So now we have a title… We just have to build a team,a budget… Forget it!” Speculation of a new installment in the Thief franchise came about from production company Straight Up Films where they confirmed that a film adaptation was in the works.

As noted by Attack of the Fanboy, the original wording on the website read, “Widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever created, a fifth sequel is currently in development to be released in step with this motion picture adaptation,” thus prompting speculation about a fifth game. The text has since been changed to, “Thief is widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever created.”
