Facebook today announced that it’s rolling out Messenger games to all of its billion-plus users across the globe. The platform is called Instant Games and it was first launched in closed beta back in November last year. There are more than 50 games available in Messenger in certain territories, including titles like Word with Friends, Pac-Man, and Galaga. Facebook has now decided to open up the Instant Games platform to all users across the globe.

Rich gameplay features are now live as well. This means that there will be leaderboards and tournaments in turn-based games which will provide a more engaging and customizable gaming experience to the over 1.2 billion people that use Facebook Messenger every month.

Game bots are onboard as well, they help re-engage players by calling out new gaming options and fostering competition by providing updates on leaderboards. Zynga’s Word with Friends is one of the first games to take advantage of the rich gameplay features. It’s now a feature-rich, turn-based game that’s available right inside Facebook Messenger.

The company has said that Instant Games on Messenger will be rolled out to all users over the next few weeks worldwide for both Android and iOS. So sit tight and wait for it to go live in your region, it shouldn’t take too long.
