Getting more “smart” components into homes these days is pretty common, and one of the more obvious changes we’ve seen people make to their homes comes in the form of smart locks. Basically these are locks that allow users to unlock their doors using an app on their phone or by tapping their phones against the lock.

Now if you don’t really like the designs that are available out there, not to worry as Friday Labs has unveiled their own take on the smart lock in the form of the Friday Lock. as you can see in the image above, the Friday Lock does not look like your typical lock and sports a very clean and minimalist design, thanks largely in part with Friday Labs’ partnership with architectural group BIG.

The company is also claiming that apart from its sleek looks, the Friday Lock is easy to install. “The Friday Universal Baseplate is used to mount Friday Lock over the previous lock’s footprint – and it’s the first such solution in the world to require only a single color-coded plate making it simple and streamlined to match to your door. No locksmith is required.”

To top it off, the lock will be HomeKit compatible meaning you’ll be able to control it via the Home app. There will also be features like geofencing, remote key, and more. For those who are interested, the Friday Lock is available for pre-order where it is priced at $249 and will be shipping in the next 3-4 weeks.
