It was believed for a very long time that the Galaxy Note 8 might be the first smartphone from Samsung to feature a dual camera system on the back. Recent reports suggest that this may not be the case. However, the rumor mill is convinced that the next phablet is going to have a dual camera system. Word on the street is that the Galaxy Note 8’s dual camera system is going to have support for 3x optical zoom.

The Galaxy Note 8 is no longer believed to be the first smartphone from Samsung to feature a dual camera system. The Galaxy C10 is now believed to be that device, and if history is any indication, the Galaxy C10 may not really make its way out of China.

The latest rumor suggests that the Galaxy Note 8 is going to have a 12 megapixel wide angle lens coupled with a 13 megapixel telephoto lens as well as support for 3x optical zoom.

It goes without saying that none of this has been officially confirmed by Samsung at this point in time so take all rumors with a grain of salt. The company has merely reiterated that it’s going to launch a new Galaxy Note handset this year and it hasn’t said anything about the device’s specifications or features.

We may not know for sure until there’s more conclusive evidence to go on and that might be leaked in the weeks leading up to the Galaxy Note 8’s launch.
