Yesterday it was reported that it was noticed that a couple of major apps had dropped their support for the Apple Watch. It was unclear why that is and in case you missed the earlier report, the apps that dropped their support included Google Maps, Amazon, and eBay, or at least these are the only ones known at the moment.

That being said, the good news is that if you did rely on Google Maps on the Apple Watch, you’ll be pleased to learn that the app will be returning, although no date was provided. In a statement provided to AppleInsider, a Google spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We removed Apple Watch support from our latest iOS release, but expect to support it again in the future.”

However no explanation was given so we guess Apple Watch users will just have to wait. Alternatively there are other navigation apps that are supported on the Apple Watch so you could always turn to those if you absolutely needed it, but until then users will just have to remain patient.

We’re not sure if there are plans for Amazon and eBay to eventually bring back support for Apple Watch, especially eBay which has an auction tracker which is pretty useful, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled in case that they do.
