WWDC is usually Apple’s platform for announcing new software and services, and while in the past Apple has used it to launch new iPhones, they haven’t really done that in quite a few years now. However this year could change as we are hearing that Apple could be launching new hardware, such as new laptops, new iPads, and so on.

In fact to support this speculation, it has been noticed that the shipping estimates for Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pros have been slipping. According to Apple’s website and noted by MacRumors, the laptops are now said to ship between June 5-June 7 for the faster option, or June 6-8 for the free shipping option.

Given that there hasn’t been a surge in purchases, it does seem odd and it would suggest that Apple is running low on stock in anticipation that they will be replacing the existing models with newer ones. We doubt that it will be too big of a hardware refresh, so most likely we’ll be looking at newer processors and some minor improvements.

We haven’t really heard anything about the 12-inch MacBook but it is also rumored to be one of the laptops that Apple plans on refreshing. In any case maybe we’re reading too much into this so take it with a grain of salt, but with WWDC kicking off next Monday we should have the official details soon.
