Motorola’s Moto Z Play smartphone has made a name for itself over the past year or so. It is widely believed to be one of the best modular smartphones that the company has released. It’s about time that Motorola follows up this smartphone with a successor. A new report claims that the Moto Z2 Play is going to be thinner than its predecessor but it’s also going to have a smaller battery.
The Moto Z Play is slightly heftier when compared against similar smartphones and Motorola appears to have addressed this concern that most customers had. The report suggests that the next Moto Z smartphone is going to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
VentureBeat reports that compared to its predecessor, the Moto Z2 Play is going to be a millimeter thinner at 6mm instead of 7mm. It’s also going to weigh 20g lighter than the Moto Z Play.
The internal specifications will reportedly be improved as well as the handset is said to feature a Snapdragon 626 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It may retain the same 5.5 inch full HD AMOLED display.
The original Moto Z Play had a 3,510mAh battery but that has reportedly been reduced in order to make the device thinner. The Moto Z2 Play is reportedly going to have a battery capacity of 3,000mAh so it won’t provide the multi-day battery life that its predecessor used to it.
The company could have made some improvements under the hood as far as power efficiency is concerned to ensure that users get the best possible mileage out of a fully charged battery.
