Pokemon has largely existed on Nintendo’s handheld consoles, and given that the Nintendo Switch can also double up as a handheld, does that mean that Pokemon could be coming to the console? We’ve heard rumors, seen job listings, and also a brief mention on a retailer’s website, and now it looks like more fuel has been added to the fire.

It has been noticed that Nintendo has recently taken down the Pokemon Direct trailer videos from its US and Japan channels. The UK channel still has the videos up, but for some reason they are removed from the US and Japan channels, which has led some to speculate that this could mean that we could be getting close to hearing about a Pokemon port for the Switch.

So how does the removal of videos suggest that a port is coming? According to the theory, fans are saying that Nintendo could be worried that the trailers could be confusing. For example fans watching the current Pokemon Sun and Moon trailers might get confused as to why there is no mention of the Switch, so the videos have been taken down to be replaced by new videos that will presumably mention the Switch somewhere.

Assuming this is true, this would be a pretty big deal for gamers and Nintendo. No word on when exactly this will happen, but E3 is coming up and Nintendo is expected to be hosting their own announcements as per usual, so maybe we’ll learn more then.
