Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing a lot of rumors and reports about the next OnePlus flagship smartphone. The company recently teased the upcoming handset itself without revealing any details about it. It has now confirmed the OnePlus 5 release timeframe. The company’s new flagship smartphone is going to be released over the next couple of months.

The company has confirmed the OnePlus 5 release timeframe to The Verge. OnePlus has said that the OnePlus 5 is going to be released this summer. It’s the successor to the popular OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

You might be wondering why the successor to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T is called OnePlus 5 and not the OnePlus 4. It’s because the number 4 is widely considered to be unlucky in China. OnePlus is based in China so it’s sticking with this belief.

OnePlus still hasn’t confirmed anything about the handset itself but if reports are to be believed, this smartphone is going to have flagship-level specifications as well as a dual camera system on the back.

The company’s smartphones have proven to be quite successful over the years. The OnePlus 5 is actually going to be the fifth phone from the company since it was launched. OnePlus handsets are known for providing users with a flagship-level experience at a reasonable price. The OnePlus 5 is likely going to stick to the same formula when it comes out later this summer.
