We have been hearing that OnePlus could be getting ready to launch the OnePlus 5, and recent leaks have revealed that the phone is already in the works. However if you wanted something a bit more official, then you might be interested to learn that OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has teased the handset on Weibo.

According to Lau’s post, he revealed that the company’s employees are working without taking a break to bring a “big surprise” to its customers, and an image was also posted which you can see above. The image doesn’t really tell us much about the phone but basically it seems that there will be some changes made under the hood.

Unfortunately apart from that not much else is known about the phone, although if we had to make a guess we’d say we’re probably looking at a Snapdragon 835 chipset, possibly 6GB of RAM (or maybe more), and hopefully a QHD display this time. For those wondering what happened to the OnePlus 4, basically the number “4” when said in certain Chinese dialects sounds like “death” and is considered to be bad luck, like how “13” is considered back luck in the West, which is why the company could be launching it as the OnePlus 5 instead.

No word on when exactly the announcement will take place, but with the OnePlus 3T launching late last year, we have to wonder if the OnePlus 5 will be launched the same time later this year, or if it will be launched in June which is when the OnePlus 3 was launched last year.
