There’s good news today for customers in the United States who have been meaning to purchase the Galaxy S8 without being locked to a carrier or having to bear all of the bloatware that carriers load on their devices. They’ll be happy that Samsung has announced today that it’s now taking pre-orders for the unlocked Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the United States.
We’ve seen Samsung make customers wait a couple of months in the past before it launched the unlocked variant of its flagship Galaxy S series in the United States. It has done that reasonably soon this year. It has only been a few weeks since the Galaxy S8 was released on April 21.
These unlocked units will be compatible with almost all CDMA and GSM networks in the United States. They won’t be locked to any particular carrier so using them abroad with a carrier in any other country will be easy as well.
Interested customers can now place pre-orders for the unlocked variant of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the United States via Samsung.com, brick and mortar Best Buy locations as well as BestBuy.com.
Samsung has priced the unlocked Galaxy S8 at $724.99 and the Galaxy S8+ at $824.99. They’re certainly not cheap, but you do get a world-class Android smartphone for your money.
