If a new report is to be believed, Sony is preparing the release of Nougat for its supported Android TVs. The report points to an update that Sony is informing some Android TV owners about. It doesn’t explicitly mention Nougat in the changelog but does bring some features that are exclusive only to Android version 7.0. This thus leads them to believe that Nougat is just around the corner for their TVs.

The notice doesn’t really confirm precisely when Sony is going to release this update for compatible smart TVs but it mentions that the roll out will begin at some point after May so it may take a few weeks before Sony releases Nougat for supported smart TVs.

Some features that are part and parcel of Nougat are mentioned in this notice, such as the ability to keep watching while browsing, picture-in-picture mode with simultaneous app use, and more.

This is considered evidence enough that the update that the notice is alluding to is, in fact, Android 7.0 Nougat.

Sony did say at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in January that it was going to release such a major update this year. However, the company hasn’t always been too quick to release software updates for its TVs. Hopefully, things will be a bit different this time around.
