Full-frame cameras back in the day were usually associated with DSLRs, although we have to say that Sony has done a pretty good job at bringing full-frame sensors to smaller bodies, such as mirrorless cameras and even compact ones, like the Sony RX1 series, and it seems that we can look forward to a new model.

In a teaser image that Sony posted onto their Weibo account in China (via Photo Rumors), the company appears to be teasing an upcoming camera announcement. As Photo Rumors points out, the bottom row of cameras appears to be of the full-frame variety, with one of them being a fixed lens full-frame camera.

The top row appears to be older Sony compact cameras, with a blank space at the right that teases what could be next. It has been speculated that Sony’s next announcement could come in the form of the Sony RX1R III whose specs we’ve heard about back in April, which includes 4K video recording, an improved EVF, and “better operations”.

Unfortunately the teaser doesn’t tell us when we can expect the camera to be announced, but given the teaser perhaps we won’t have to wait much longer, so do check back with us in the coming days/weeks to see if there is any official word from the company.
