If you’ve ever purchased tickets for movies, concerts, or sporting events online, when it comes to the seat selection you are typically shown a top down view of the venue’s layout. This means that sometimes when you think you are getting a good spot, it might not actually come off that way in real-life.

However Ticketmaster will be solving that problem thanks to a new feature that they are adding to its mobile app and website. Customers who purchase their tickets from Ticketmaster will now be able to get a view of their seats before purchasing them, which means that as you can see in the photo above, this is the view you can expect should you decide to purchase that particular seat.

This is a more accurate representation of seats compared to the previous method. This is thanks to a partnership with IOMedia and its 3D Virtual Venue technology. Of course it won’t be applicable to every single venue out there, but it so far 110 venues across North America and Australia are currently supported, and presumably more will be added in the future.

Speaking to The Verge, Ismail El Shareef, VP of open platform and innovation at Ticketmaster said, “Everything we do is to remove friction. It helps us offer a seamless, informative, immersive, and interactive experience for our fans. Offering this realistic perspective of what the seats are going to look like, what the stage is going to look like, that perspective helps fans make decisions faster.”
