Sometimes it can be quicker for you to take different modes of transportation to your destination as opposed to one mode all the way. For example it could be faster for you to take a cab to the train station and take the train as opposed to cabbing it all the way, which could be slower due to traffic and also more expensive.

Uber understands that multimodal transportation is something that we all do, and thanks to a partnership with Transmit, Uber is making it easier for users to keep up with the various departure and arrival times of the different transportation services out there. This means that users will no longer have to keep switching between apps to find out when their bus/train arrives or departs.

According to Uber, “Starting today, when riders are in an Uber and their destination is or a block away from a transit stop, we’ll begin showing them upcoming departure times in the Uber feed. We’ll refresh these times regularly so riders have the latest information right at their fingertips. And if they want to learn more, one tap will take them to the Transit app for a-to-b directions, service disruption information, and more.”

At the moment the feature is only available in the US and on Android and only in select cities, but we imagine that Uber will eventually expand it to the rest of the US and also bring it onto iOS devices in the future.
