We’re sure that many moviegoers and comic book fans are eager to see how DC’s Justice League movie will hold against the competition that is Marvel’s The Avengers. So far DC’s standalone movies haven’t exactly been well-received, although early reviews of Wonder Woman are off to a good start.That being said, there is some rather unfortunate news as it has been announced that Zack Snyder will be stepping down from his role with the Justice League movie. It seems that this decision came about following Snyder’s daughter, Autumn Snyder, suicide in March earlier this year where she was 20.
So far her death has been kept private and the movie was actually put on hold for two weeks while the family dealt with it. However it seems that the family needs more time to deal with this, hence the decision to step away. According to Snyder, “In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it.”
“The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.” Taking his place will be Joss Whedon, although Warner Bros. Pictures president Toby Emmerich has stated that Whedon’s will be minimal, and that this was for additional scenes and will not change the direction of the movie.
According to Emmerich, “The directing is minimal and it has to adhere to the style and tone and the template that Zack set, We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handing the baton to Joss, but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.” Justice League has been set for a release on the 17th of November, 2017.
