When it comes to apps that can scan your receipts or documents onto your phone, there are plenty of options to choose from. However that did not stop Adobe from tossing their hat into the ring with their latest release in the form of the Adobe Scan, and what sets the app aside from the rest is that these are PDFs you can actually edit.

Like we said there are many apps out there that can scan into PDFs but with Adobe Scan, users can edit these PDFs so if you wanted to make some notes or annotations, you’ll be able to do so. This is thanks to the fact that the app uses OCR to convert printed text into digital text, so editing PDFs and even searching within the scans is possible.

According to Adobe, “OCR in Adobe Scan is completely free, converting printed text to digital text in seconds. It’s fast and easy to capture multi-page documents too. In fact, Adobe Scan is optimized for capturing multi-page documents without sacrificing quality. Other free apps limit the number of pages you can scan or they watermark the images. Adobe Scan is different.”

However the “downside” is that the app will store your scans inside Adobe Document Cloud which means that if you use another storage service then we guess that’s the app’s limitations. The app is available for both iOS and Android, so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play to check it out.
