When listening to music, sometimes it’s nice to be in control of the songs you listen to, especially if you know what you want. However there are times when it’s nice to be surprised and discover new tunes, which is where curated playlists come in handy, and it seems that Apple is rolling out a new playlist for its Apple Music users.

In a report from Jim Dalrymple from The Loop, Apple is pushing out a new playlist called “My Chill Mix” to Apple Music users. However the report notes that this playlist isn’t available to all users yet, but Apple is expected to roll it out to everyone in due time. As the name suggests, this playlist will feature more “chill” or mellow tunes.

However what’s interesting about this playlist is that since chill/mellow is subjective (some might prefer classical, some prefer lounge, some might like jazz), this playlist essentially chooses music from genres that you like, or at least from genres that it thinks you like presumably based on your favorites and the kind of songs you normally listen to.

This means that if you’re a rock music lover, perhaps it could pick some rock acoustic tunes, while those who like jazz might end up with songs that are of a slower tempo and less “busy”. This will no doubt come in handy when it comes to discovering new artists and diving deeper into your favorite genre, so do keep an eye out for it if you’re an Apple Music subscriber.
