If you’re a gamer, there are various voice chat services and instant messenger services that you can use that are catered more towards gamers, and Discord is one of them that has risen in popularity in recent times. Now it seems that gamers are hoping that Discord could come up with a solution for the Nintendo Switch.

When asked on Twitter if Discord could create a chat app for the Switch, the developer responded in a way that suggested that they were open to the idea. They then asked gamers to head on over to the Discord website to help upvote the idea where presumably they are trying to gauge how many gamers could be interested in such an idea.

However whether or not Nintendo will allow third-party services such as Discord to exist on the Switch remains to be seen, especially when you consider the fact that Nintendo plans to launch an online service of their own in which they’ll be charging gamers a subscription fee similar to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live.

At the moment there is no voice chat option for the Switch, but Nintendo did reveal that they are working on a smartphone app that will facilitate this method of communication, something that many gamers don’t seem too enthused about following the reveal of Splatoon 2’s voice chat system which looks rather complicated, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
