Soon enough we will be treated to season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones. This is the second last season and from what we have seen in the trailers, things are about to get much more exciting than we thought possible. Paths are about to cross, and wars are about to start, and it makes for excellent television.

However the fate of the final season is still hanging in the balance. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff revealed that they had still yet to decide when the season will air. We had recently heard that the season could be delayed, and this recent interview at the very least confirms that no date has been set.

Prior to this, it was almost a guarantee that we would get a new Game of Thrones season in April, and season 7 actually marks the first time that a season has been delayed. According to Benioff when asked if we will see it in either 2018 or 2019, he replied by saying, “We honestly don’t know yet. There’s been a lot of back and forth about air dates. That’s a long way off from being settled.”

However the good news is that as far as the writing is concerned, Dan Weiss revealed that they were almost done. Of course there still needs to be some polishing, but at least things appear to be chugging along nicely. In the meantime season 7 has been set for a release on the 7th of July, so mark your calendars!
