It would seem that these days, handset OEMs are headed towards the direction in which there will be a future where smartphones will no longer come with headphone jacks. Sure, many are still quite hesitant in making the change, but more than a few have already done so, and OnePlus could be one of them.

In a series of photos of cases for the OnePlus 5 obtained by Android Pure, it would seem to further corroborate the rumors and speculation that the handset might not feature a headphone jack. This is simply based on the fact that in these renderings and images, there does not appear to be a cutout for where a headphone jack should go.

For those hoping this isn’t true, you might recall that OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had also recently tweeted some cryptic news that gave further rise to the speculation that the OnePlus 5 won’t have a headphone jack, so if anything these renders appear to be proving that Pei’s tweets could be true.

In any case it remains to be seen if these renders are any accurate so take it with a grain of salt. However OnePlus is expected to launch the OnePlus 5 on the 20th of June as per the invite, so do check back with us next week for the details.
