Recently OnePlus reminded the public that they would be unveiling the new OnePlus 5 on the 20th of June, and in the process they also tweeted out the design of the phone. The phone itself looks pretty good, although right off the bat there were many comparisons drawn up in which many seemed to feel that the handset was reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone 7.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has since tweeted his response to the claims in which he wrote, “Does anyone still remember the commotion regarding the OnePlus 3 design before it came out? It stopped as soon as people got the device.” We guess so far the public only has the current image to base their assumptions on, and that perhaps in real-life the handset could look rather different.

To be fair, OnePlus has not been the only company who has been accused of copying Apple’s designs. In the past we’ve seen how other companies such as HTC have similarly been accused, and let’s not forget the infamous legal tussle between Apple and Samsung over design patents, but we guess at the end of the day it is the user experience and the features that helps make a phone great.

Whether or not the OnePlus 5 will live up to the hype remains to be seen, but based on the rumored specs, it sounds like it could be quite a handset to behold, so do check back with us next week for the details.
